Notifications

The Viewer provides notifications for Gray Sky events that were recently published.

Notifications for other types of events, such as new Blue Sky imagery, new features, and other items of interest will be available in the future.

Notifications are located in the Viewer’s header, in the upper right corner.

The notification bell will show with an orange dot when one or more new notifications are available.

Click on the notification bell to open the list of notifications.

Unread notifications are shown with a light gray background. The notification text explains what the notification is for. In this example, the notification is for new Gray Sky imagery available for the 2023 Lahaina (Maui, Hawaii) fires. The date and time of the notification is shown in the upper right corner of each notification in the list, and an X allows you to clear the notification if desired.

Click on View imagery to navigate straight to the new imagery.

The Viewer will navigate to the new imagery and will, for a few moments, display a polygon representing the extent of the new imagery as well.

Once View imagery has been clicked, the notification is considered as “read” and will be disappear from the list. The orange dot will also disappear from the notification bell.

If you want to see the notification again, click on the toggle to Show hidden notifications.

Notifications, including hidden notifications, are automatically removed from the list after 30 days.
