Product Vision

Elements - Roadway will extend Vexcel’s ability to “digitize the world”, moving from properties and buildings into the road network. 

Elements - Roadway will provide digital “as-built” and "as-is" data of roadways including pavement markings, features like curb edges, medians and sidewalks and more. “As-is” for roadway data would provide condition information (quality score) for elements such as pavement markings and road surfaces.  

The data Vexcel can create and deliver will be used for inventory reporting, safety analysis and maintenance planning using GIS software and preliminary engineering design work using CAD software.  Level of detail (LOD) and accuracy requirements for derivatives are higher for engineering work (safety analysis and design).

The scale of Vexcel high-resolution and positional accurate "mapping grade" Urban imagery combined with machine learning to automate the digitization of roadway features can help road agencies update and maintain inventory, conduct larger scale and improved safety analysis, and maintain infrastructure at lower cost.  

The initial Elements - Roadway data will primarily be focused on detecting pavement markings related to vulnerable road users (VRUs) and intersections such as crosswalks, bicycle markings, stop and yield lines, and turn arrows on non-highway roads.
